Yelich named National League MVP

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is the National League (NL) MVP.

The Brewers star nearly won the NL Triple Crown as he batted .326 with 36 home runs and 110 RBIs after Milwaukee acquired him in an offseason trade.

Yelich was nearly a unanimous pick, receiving 29 of 30 first-place votes and 415 points.

New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom, who finished fifth in the voting, received the other vote.

Chicago Cubs infielder Javier Baez finished second with 250 points, earning 19 second-place votes.

Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado finished third with 203 points and Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman was fourth with 174 points.
